Party Like I'm turning 35.

I am turning 35.

In a few months.

Not a big deal, really.

But, I do want to celebrate.

Big time.

Candy Man agreed to a party!

I know.

I can't believe it either.

Drinks.

Dancing.

More Drinks.

And, instead of presents, canned goods for charity.

I'd love some good appetizer, dessert or drink recipes.

I'd also like to know how you celebrate.

What's you idea of the perfect party?

Any fabulous parties you've been to lately?

Do tell.

Fun fun fun!!! I need to throw myself a party.

I am a huge fan of Mojitos - DonQ makes an AMAZING bottled Mojito that all you have to do is pour over ice with some club soda. Its even better with a little bit of pineapple juice!!

I love having a ton of different dips at partys, with all sorts of crazy crackers, pita chips, veggies, and fruits. I love mixing and matching all the different flavors. (I usually bring 2 or three dips to a party)

My faves:

Artichoke Spinach
Dill Cream cheese
Flavored hummus(es)
yogurt fruit dip

What a fun birthday that will be!

I love planning parties! I'll see if I can help you....
Sounds like your going to have a blast! My favorite dish is a spinach strawberry salad with poppy seed dressing! Yum just like eating candy! Happy early birthday to you:)

I love your canned food for charity instead of gifts. For mine this year, I asked that donations be made to a local animal rescue.

You might want to set some sort of theme for your party and that will give you ideas for food. Mine was "Red Carpet" and everyone dressed in gowns and tuxes and all the dishes were very elegant.

Whatever you decide just have a blast and let the Champagne flow.

Why this post depressed me:

*I turn 35...on FRIDAY.

*Scott is on call this weekend. No birthday date night for us.

*I will have no party, and no gifts from my husband & children, because as of today, 5 days from my birthday, he has not bought me the first thing, nor will he. (This is not me feeling sorry for myself--this is the fact of the matter. I do have 2 gifts from my parents, so yay for them.)

*I am sad that I live on the other side of the country--when I'd rather be celebrating 35 with you and Heather...and drinks and snacky-snacks and dancing and stuff.

Le sigh...

Why this post made me happy:

*Because you'll be 35 with me!

*Because 34 was a good year for us--and 35 can only be better!

*Because during our 35th year, Eclipse will be released, as will the final book in The Hunger Games series, and the 2nd book in the Maze Runner series. So much goodness!

*Because there had BETTER be some serious V4&After action during our 35th year.

*Because I love you.
The end.
xoxo

p.s. Here's my idea for a good SoCal party...
Rosa's. Beer. Music. That is all.

Woohoo! 35 is GREAT! How did I not know that we're all the same age? (I feel like I'm older than everyone I know online!) And how come I didn't know that you call your husband Candy Man? That's my man's blog name. :) I'm assuming MY husband didn't agree to throw you a party....

So...I went to a pretty cool party in Vegas last month. From what I saw there, I would recommend drinks and dancing for your big party. I'm not a huge party woman. I wish I could help you out a little more.

Oh, I am so excited for you! Parties are so fun! My favorite ones are the ones that have a nice mix of people and everyone is talking : ) I hope you get lots of good ideas! Would you want to have a tree by the door where everyone leaves you a memory? That might be nice :) They could put it on a paper and clothespin it to the leaves. I have seen it done and it looks so nice. I will try to think of some other ideas. I am not that cool so I don't go to many parties.

Great app I recently had was brie cheese and rasperry jam wrapped in phillo dough. OH MY GOSH good! And easy according to the bringer : )

Sounds like fun! My 40th birthday is next year and I told my boyfriend all I want is to go to L.A. Not sure if he can swing the vacation time, though. He has a friend out there (well, in Pasadena) who wants us to visit and I've dreamed of going to L.A. my whole life...so I figure, what better way to celebrate turning 40?

We're not very classy people around here so for a party here it'd be maybe some dinner or dessert. For my hopefully New Year's Eve party, I'm planning on making a ham and having friends bring side dishes and desserts. We'll have some sparkling punch instead of wine or champagne (cheaper and most of us don't drink). I plan on buying some candles for some cool lighting. And good friends and we'll play games. That's my idea of a good party. :)

Only 35? I turned 40 this year and don't feel any different than I did when I was 35.

Parties--around here? Never.

My idea of a prefect party is where everything is done for me and the wine never stops following. And I am surrounded by the best people.

Party time excellent! I'll be 45 in ONE MONTH, but I totally feel 25, and I plan on partying like I'm 25 too!

So, you're looking for a few ideas? Well, THANK GOD I am stopping by. I'm your girl when it comes to ideas.

Here is a list of must haves for your big day:

1. Heather
2. Lula
3. Mama Kat
4. Scary Mommy
5. Me
6. Cosmopolitans
7. Video cameras
8. Wedding dresses.

I think you know where this is headed.

And yes, it will be a damn good time.

I hope you have a great party. I have a great recipe for chicken cordon bleu bruschetta. It's on this page, http://screamingmimitoo.blogspot.com/2008/10/yummy.html

It's the third recipe down.
No.

But. I turn 35 in a few weeks too. I have a feeling my non party is not going to be nearly as fun as yours.

:)
Make that a few months. I'm delirious.

I. love. appetizers.
I think they are my favorite part of any party! How about shrimp and chorizo quesadillas with pepperjack cheese? Those always seem to go to soon at my get togethers.
Are you going to make a signature cocktail?

Oh my, I love appetizers. That's what I'm best at. I've been known to have parties simply because I found new appetizer recipes. How big is your inbox?

Well here is what I have decided. I turn 35 in like 4 years and 7 months and some odd days and if we all save like 50 a month we can have a huge blowout in Vegas!!! This spawned after Sitscation you know, I blame you for my deep rooted desire to go back there LOL

Happy birthday, I'm also 1974, what a good year! We're about to head out to a party at the German Christmas market and eat freshly made waffles, bratwursts, and drink mulled wine! Simple but lovely! Laura in Germany
